Anfield Stadium was built in 1884 and belonged to Everton Football Club for the first 8 years, but has been Liverpool's home since the club was founded at The Sandon in 1892. The first renovation of Anfield took place in 1928, which made room for 30,000 standing spectators, and The Kop quickly became known for its high volume. Anfield Stadium was most recently renovated for the start of the 16/17 season, when the Main Stand became the largest single-tier stand in England with seating for approximately 20,500 spectators.
