Anfield Stadium was built in 1884 and belonged to the Everton Football Club for the first 8 years, but has been Liverpool's home since the club was founded at The Sandon in 1892.
The first renovation of Anfield took place in 1928, which made room for 30,000 standing spectators, and The Kop quickly became known for its high volume. Anfield Stadium was most recently renovated to the start of 16/17 when the Main Stand was expanded to 20,500 spectators. Anfield Stadium can now accommodate 54,074 spectators.
The stadium is located approx. 4 km. north of Liverpool city centre and it takes less than an hour to walk from the city and out to Anfield Stadium.
