Welcome to London

London is one of the world's most visited cities, and the city has something for everyone: from history and culture to fine food and nightlife.

A journey through time
London's history is to be seen everywhere in the city. The city's iconic buildings are landmarks of London's history, and there are many of them: the Tower of London, Westminster Abbey and Big Ben are just a few quickly recognizable pieces.
However, the city also exudes innovation (the Shard, Tate Modern, Sky Garden) which stands above the city, but which never surpasses London's century-old narrative.

Art or culture
London is extremely rich in art and culture and is a city with great ideas and ingenuity.
Independent thinkers have always dominated London, and until recently one was suspicious of anything that was "avant-garde".
This is now a thing of the past and the city's creative environment is characterized by theatre, modern art, music, poetry, architecture and design.
Central London is where the largest museums, galleries and the most iconic sights gather but visit Hampstead Heath or Queen Elizabeth Olympic Park if you want to get away from the crowds. You can also venture further out to Kew Gardens, Richmond or Hampton Court Palace to get beautiful panoramas of London by the river followed by a pint at a quiet pub by the river.

Diversity
London is deeply multicultural, and 1/3 of London's residents are not born in England. The city represents 270 nationalities and over 300 languages. The diversity fills the city, clearly seen on the city's gastronomic scene, music and fashion.
At British institutions such as the British Museum and Victoria & Albert Musem, exhibitions are varied and fantastic, and the centuries-old Borough Market offers the full global gourmet spectrum.

Stamford Bridge officially opened in 1887, making it the oldest stadium in the Premier League, and started as home ground for the London Athletic Club. Stamford Bridge was later offered to Fulham FC, who declined, and when Chelsea was founded in 1905, they moved in a few months later. Stamford Bridge is one of the stadiums in the Premier League where you are closest to the pitch. In the 60s and 70s, Chelsea made a lot of renovations to Stamford Bridge. However, these renovations became such a financial burden that Chelsea had to sell the stadium. It was repurchased in 1992. After the takeover, Chelsea has again used many resources to renovate Stamford Bridge into what can be called a modern stadium.

The stadium has a capacity of 40,341 spectators, making it the 9th largest stadium in England.

Attractions around Stamford Bridge

Chelsea offers many different tours of the stadium, both alone or with the help of a former Chelsea legend. You can also visit their museum at the stadium. You can read more about Chelsea's tours here.

There are also countless pubs near Stamford Bridge. All pubs are typically completely filled on match days, which creates a very special atmosphere leading up to Chelsea matches. As a fan, you can easily find a Chelsea pub on Fulham Road, Fulham Broadway, King's Road. But two we would recommend are:

The Butcher's Hook:

The Butcher's Hook is known to be the place where Chelsea was founded in 1905. The Butchers Hook is located right in front of the main entrance to the stadium.

Frankie's Sport Bar & Diner

Frankie's Sport Bar & Diner is located at Stamford Bridge and is Chelsea's very own pub. Here you can get good food and good drinks. It is very popular among Chelsea fans to come here before matches, which makes the pub fill up quickly.

How to get to Stamford Bridge

Metro: With the metro, you can get very close to Stamford Bridge. There are many options you can use on match day. Fulham Broadway is the closest station with a short 3-minute walk to the stadium, but this station can be very crowded. To avoid the crowds, you can also take the metro to Parsons Green or West Brompton. These metro stations are about a kilometer away from the stadium.

Bus: You can also take the bus to Stamford Bridge. There are three options that stop right outside the stadium. By hopping on bus lines 14, 211, or 414, you will find yourself right outside the historic stadium. The buses can also be crowded.

Taxi: From the city center, you can take a taxi directly to Stamford Bridge. This can take between 15-30 minutes or longer. Generally, there is a lot of traffic in London, but on match days, you can get stuck. It is recommended to hop out of the taxi before and walk the rest of the way.

We offer football trips to London, including tickets, selected hotels, and airfare from several airports.
