Türk Telekom Stadium (formerly known as Türk Telekom Arena) replaced Galatasaray's old Ali Sami Yen, which was worn and lacked modern facilities. Construction began in late 2007 and officially opened on January 15th 2011, in a friendly match where Galatasaray hosted Ajax.
