The current Şükrü Saracoğlu Stadium was used as the primary stadium for many of the clubs in Istanbul. However, in the 1920s, it lost its significance when Taksim Stadium opened, thus becoming the clubs' favourite stadium. In 1929, Şükrü Saracoğlu Stadium became Fenerbahce's home, after which they bought the stadium and renamed it Fenerbahçe Stadı.
