Stamford Bridge

Stamford Bridge officially opened in 1887, making it the oldest stadium in the Premier League, and started as home ground for the London Athletic Club. Stamford Bridge was later offered to Fulham FC, who declined, and when Chelsea was founded in 1905, they moved in a few months later. Stamford Bridge is one of the stadiums in the Premier League where you are closest to the pitch. In the 60s and 70s, Chelsea made a lot of renovations to Stamford Bridge. However, these renovations became such a financial burden that Chelsea had to sell the stadium. It was repurchased in 1992. After the takeover, Chelsea has again used many resources to renovate Stamford Bridge into what can be called a modern stadium.

The stadium has a capacity of 40,341 spectators, making it the 9th largest stadium in England.

Chelsea offers many different tours of the stadium, both alone or with the help of a former Chelsea legend. You can also visit their museum at the stadium. You can read more about Chelsea's tours here.

There are also countless pubs near Stamford Bridge. All pubs are typically completely filled on match days, which creates a very special atmosphere leading up to Chelsea matches. As a fan, you can easily find a Chelsea pub on Fulham Road, Fulham Broadway, King's Road. But two we would recommend are:

The Butcher's Hook:

The Butcher's Hook is known to be the place where Chelsea was founded in 1905. The Butchers Hook is located right in front of the main entrance to the stadium.

Frankie's Sport Bar & Diner

Frankie's Sport Bar & Diner is located at Stamford Bridge and is Chelsea's very own pub. Here you can get good food and good drinks. It is very popular among Chelsea fans to come here before matches, which makes the pub fill up quickly.
